West Linton success at Cowal

Castle Bagpipes would like to congratulate all at West Linton and District Pipe Band for their success winning the grade 4b title at the Cowal Championships. This is the band’s first ever Major championship win and the band deservedly took home the trophy with 1st and 2nd places in piping, 2nd place in drumming and 1st place in ensemble. Congratulations to all who took part!

Greig Canning Featured on BBC Pipeline

Castle Bagpipes’ very own Greig Canning was the session guest on the BBC Pipeline show on 11th July. Greig played a full 45 min session with a set of competition marches, competition strathspeys and reels, slow air and jigs and the piobaireachd “The MaFarlanes Gathering”. The programme was broken up by showcasing some of Greig’s recorded pipe band work with tracks coming from the 2005 Dysart and Dundonald album ”Terra Incognita” and also with Manawatu Scottish from the 2007 world pipe band championships.

Greig becomes Pipe Major of Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band

Castle Bagpipes instructor Greig Canning has recently been appointed as the Pipe Major of the former Wold Champion Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band from Cardenden, Fife.

Greig, a former playing member of the band from 2001-2006, takes charge as a resuscitated “Dysart” make their first steps back into the competitive arena. Greig is joined by leading drummer and former player Lee Innes. Keep checking for more updates on this exciting project!
